The kids are really into volcanoes right now. They have been busy learning stuff about them and making crafts. So far this is what we've done.

California Science Adventure

Saturday the whole family took flight to the California Science Center. They were in awe, we had never been before. Lots of hands on, lots of space exhibits, just what is up our alley for July. They have decided to do themes, specifically that go along with our Magic School Bus science kit we get every month.

They got to go in a space simulator, which I could here joyful noises coming from. If only I could have gone it. In there they soared through space and saw things, I could only wish for. The played in discovery rooms and saw models of viruses. They got to see some amazing sea creatures and high five a diver through the aquarium.

On our way home, the van was running hot. For awhile we were travelling exit by exit to try and get home. The van would cool, then get hot. We finally gave up for the day in Walnut and checked into a hotel. We stayed overnight, got a new radiator cap, and towed home by a friend. Amazing blessings! The kids saw so much positive being in a hotel, we were all together...in cool air. They got to swim and go into a hot tub. My fingers are crossed that the radiator just needs to be burped, and nothing else is wrong. She goes to the shop today.

Busy Bee Saturday

After a short stop at the Goodwill store we went up to the Western Science Center for Science Saturday. The kids had so much fun, they always do. Today's theme was physical properties. They made some goo and did some other fun things.

It was pretty nice weather out. It was warm enough for a light sweater a or if you are acclimated short sleeves and shorts....like Dexter above. Oh, looks like Maggie also likes short sleeves. We went to the Ramona Bowl to see if the kids could get casted as rock Indians. The whole ordeal was a wild goose chase and there was about 100 kids there, and we had to leave to get out of town to see my dad. I guess we will try again next year.

We went to John's Incredibly Exspensive Pizza, thanks to gift cards. My dad met us there. We ate and hung out for a few hours. I am actually not sure how long. The kids had sooo muuch fun. Dexter bought all the kids "tokens" with his allowance. That just warmed my heart.

That's All, Folks!

Family Friday: Adventures in Astronomy

We had so much fun at Astronomy Nighty up at the Western Science Center. We are so loving that they are doing this once every other month. It's such a joy to see the kids just get so excited over things.
I am hoping to continue Family Friday's.

FREE!!! App Review: MOON

On Monday, the FedEx man brought my a loverly package. It was the same muted cardboard brown they all are....it's what was inside that made it beautiful. Jimmy had ordered me, against my will of course, a refurbished iPad 2. Why do I mention it's refurbished? Because, I love used things.

The kids were equally excited. None of us has one, or any tablet for that matter. We began downloading free apps. There are a few WE are all amazed with. Simple but, so fun...so much learning happening with them.
This one today is the Moon. app. It's free and will tell you what your moon will be like that day and on other days. The kids love seeing the moon rise and moon set. It has info on the Moons phase and distance. These are actual screenshots from my iPad. I recommend it for any budding astronomer or anyone really.

I hope you enjoy this free app.
