SPD and Focusing

I've noticed that Joaquin has had a terrible time focusing. Tanni dumped the bookshelf and I asked him to put the books back in. We lowered the volume of the house, no sound on computer and low sound for Netflix. While it took him 45 minutes or more, he did complete the task. He has his own way of doing things. He organized in a way I can't figure out, but it looks good. He is sitting down now reading with low noise. I'm looking into some good fish oil for him, hoping it helps.
Your SPD kid take too long, lose focus? How about giving them a chance and looking through their eyes?

Love,
Momma

Sensory Fun

We've been working on more sensory fun. Also on fine motor skills. While the focus is mainly on Hezzie I invite the other kids to join. In hoping Joaquin will.

Here is the bag we made with hair gel, glitter and pony beads.
Then the pony bead suncatcher. Hope you all are having great summers.

Maggie

So I just need some blog therapy. Maggie has a doctors appointment yesterday. We had to get some blood tests before the end if the day. We are awaiting the results. She just turned nine and so much has been planned for the next year of her life. A year that was never promised, but we assumed she will have filled with good health.
We are trying to not think of the negative. Trying to be positive and distract ourselves. Today instead of attending the wedding party a couple hours away, we will take her and her little brothers to a birthday party at a pool. We will finish watching the documentary on wolves.
Tomorrow we plan on early morning mass and may a surprise trip to Whitewater. She loves water.
God loves her and though His plan isn't always ours...we still pray that it is.

Maggie

So my sweet and feisty Maggie turned nine on Sunday. REALLY? I know, I know what did I think was going to happens when she turned eight? I get it, kids grow up.  For some reason, maybe my age....or whatever...I don't want to hear that. All I know is that I want to capture her in this moment, as see what it is that being nine is to her.

What does it mean to be nine? It means I am almost 10.
What do you want to be when you are older? I want to be a veterinarian.
What is your favorite animal? Wolves and horses.
What is your favorite memory of eight? When I got my first LPS daschound names Killer and when I went to World Thinking Day for Girl Scouts.

She is so creative and smart. She loves to draw, and sculpt things. How amazing is she?
