California Science Adventure

Saturday the whole family took flight to the California Science Center. They were in awe, we had never been before. Lots of hands on, lots of space exhibits, just what is up our alley for July. They have decided to do themes, specifically that go along with our Magic School Bus science kit we get every month.

They got to go in a space simulator, which I could here joyful noises coming from. If only I could have gone it. In there they soared through space and saw things, I could only wish for. The played in discovery rooms and saw models of viruses. They got to see some amazing sea creatures and high five a diver through the aquarium.

On our way home, the van was running hot. For awhile we were travelling exit by exit to try and get home. The van would cool, then get hot. We finally gave up for the day in Walnut and checked into a hotel. We stayed overnight, got a new radiator cap, and towed home by a friend. Amazing blessings! The kids saw so much positive being in a hotel, we were all together...in cool air. They got to swim and go into a hot tub. My fingers are crossed that the radiator just needs to be burped, and nothing else is wrong. She goes to the shop today.
Happy Adventures,

No Beach For Me

Sunday, we had plans to venture out to Oceanside. My brother Mike lives on base and we had plans to BBQ. Jimmy smoked a chicken and a turkey tenderloin before we headed out. When I woke up the aroma was drifting in the house from and open back door. It made for an amazing start of a morning. We packed up the foot in our glass containers and piled in the van.
I drove and when we were about 20 miles from home our van decided not to drive anymore. Luckily we were at a busy intersection with some amazingly kind strangers who helped Jimmy push the van into the gas station as I steered it. Thank goodness I have some degree of upper body strength, the power steering was obviously not working.

We ended back in town in three differnt vehicles. Joaquin and I got to ride in the tow truck. Hezzie, Dexter and Waylon went with my mom and her husband. Jimmy and Maggie with his friend Scot.
The tow truck driver was a really nice guy. He carried on quite the conversation and made Joaquin feel at ease. The van in now at the mechanics and we are hoping it's nothing costly.

We came home and planted our Christmas tree and Maggie buried her money in the front yard. The kids played for quite some time. We ate a dinner/lunch and relaxed a bit.

Hezzie asked for a haircut and this is what daddy did.

Hope you all had good Sunday's.

Van, teeth and another dinner...

Yesterday morning while driving Jimmy to rehab we heard a weird noise coming from the rear passenger wheel. This was quite alarming since we just had the brakes and such done to the tine of $455 the week before. So we called the mechanic took it in as it dumped brake fluid all over the place. Turns out the wheel cylinder they put in went bad...I hope it wasn't our bad one rebuilt. Jimmy walked to rehab and I waited out the repair...in my slippers.
While I waited I chewed on a gumball and I had some pain from a root canal gone bad. I ended up yanking out what was left of the top of that tooth. I have to say eating has not been this pain free in quite a long time. You know you wanted to see the picture.

I spent the remainder of the day with the kids enjoying the warm weather with the windows open and curtains ruffling occasionally in the breeze.

In the evening I took Joaquin and Hezzie to have dinner with daddy. They enjoyed their time so much. I love doing little things like that.
